The Taxslayer Bowl features two teams that have had really disappointing seasons that were full of high expectations. Georgia was thought of a serious national title contender before the season began, but now find themselves in a low profile bowl game and have fired their head coach. For Penn State, they were supposed to finally take that big step as a contender in the Big Ten in James Franklin’s third season. Instead, they are sitting at 7-5 and have had terrible offensive numbers led by a top NFL quarterback prospect in Christian Hackenberg. Franklin was forced to fire his offensive coordinator after this season. They did have a strong defense this on the other hand that was led by Big Ten defensive player of the year Carl Nassib. Georgia seems like it is just ready for Alabama’s season to end at this point so they can start over fresh with new head coach Kirby Smart, the no defensive coordinator for Alabama. Georgia comes into this game as a seven point favorite and still has an abundance of talent, but I wouldn’t count out Penn State as Franklin is still looking to end this season on a high note.
